Our Story
Shringar began with a simple belief — that a saree is not bought, it is chosen. And sometimes, it chooses you.
Every piece in our collection is sourced from weaving families we know by name, then photographed, measured and held in our Pune studio. When you inquire, you speak to a person — not a cart. We'll tell you the truth about the weave, drape it over a shoulder on video, and hold it while you decide.
And when nothing in the collection is quite your story — we design it with you, thread by thread.
Signature Weaves
The poem of Maharashtra — woven on handlooms in pure silk with an oblique square border and a pallu of peacocks and lotuses in molten gold.
The signature. The kaleidoscopic pallu is woven with interlocked wefts, so the motif looks identical on both sides — no reverse, no wrong side.
A true Paithani is never printed. Hold it to the light and the zari answers back.
Woven moonlight from the ghats of Varanasi — dense brocades of gold and silver zari over katan silk, made for weddings and remembered for generations.
The signature. Mughal-inspired kalga and bel motifs, and a jhallar of upright leaves along the inner border.
A single bridal Banarasi can take a master weaver six months at the loom.
The temple silk of the south — heavy, lustrous mulberry silk with contrast borders so structured they could stand on their own.
The signature. Body and border are woven separately and interlocked with the korvai technique — if the saree ever tears, the border will not give way.
Its colours are borrowed from temple gopurams — arakku red, moss green, turmeric gold.
Woven air — a sheer, glass-like silk-cotton from a town of weavers, scattered with tiny gold butis like fireflies at dusk.
The signature. The translucence comes from single-flature yarn left unglued — a secret the town has kept since royal patronage.
Light as rumour, luminous as truth — a Chanderi is summer's answer to silk.
